Behind the Scenes: Packaging on Press

Last week, we set out to create some new improved packaging for our keychains, so we designed a new box and turned to Ryan Tempro, our operations guy and in-house letterpress printer, to print the pieces. In addition to running ops at YIELD, Ryan runs his letterpress business MC Pressure out of the YIELD shop. It's a convenient setup.

Ryan operates a Kluge press (seen here) as well as a Heidelberg press, both from the 1950's.

The new packaging is printed with lightly metallic Pantone 877U ink on a French Smart White 130lb cover stock. The box is also significantly reduced in size, creating a more efficient, form fitting structure.
